Zuleima has a particular interest for Acreide Palazzolo, particularly for knowledge and personal experience of one partner.
Palazzolo is now a town of nearly 10,000 inhabitants, situated about 40 km from Ragusa Ibla, but was born in the sixth century BC as sub-colony of the Greek colony of Syracuse , certainly not a random choice by Greek colonists from the top that controlled all the movements on the surrounding area, at 360 degrees on the valley dell'Anapo and Tellaro .
The road from Ragusa Ibla that door up there is very nice, especially because the landscape is not disfigured with buildings, the modern work, has been preserved as it was the beginning of the twentieth century: there is still the oak, for example!
a place little known even by the Sicilians, and we want to recommend.
Among the remains of ' greek settlement opens a theater, a jewel who lives at certain times of the year. Also the historic center of the modern city has its own peculiarities, such as House Museum of A. Bird. Who was Anthony Bird? A man born in Bath, who left his country to go to teach in Brianza (some things never change, right!?) And its by far decided not to let go of what that time would slip away from generation generation. A poet, a scholar with the spirit of research and anthropologist. When he came "from up" during the school holidays, left with his wife around Sicily, country and country he left .... for the preservation of folk songs, but returned with all the cultural and material as well. All this hard work was put inside the bird house that bought in Palazzolo, the home-front today you can visit for free.
